Biography:
Tim Peake is a British astronaut, engineer, and former British Army Air Corps officer. He gained widespread recognition after becoming the first British ESA astronaut to visit the International Space Station (ISS).
Born in Chichester, West Sussex, Peake attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and served as an officer in the Army Air Corps, becoming a qualified helicopter pilot. He later worked as a test pilot for AgustaWestland.
In 2009, Peake was selected as an astronaut candidate by the European Space Agency (ESA). After extensive training, he launched to the ISS in December 2015 as part of Expedition 46/47. During his six-month mission, he conducted scientific experiments, participated in educational outreach activities, and performed a spacewalk to repair a power supply unit.
Since returning to Earth, Peake has remained a prominent figure in space exploration and science communication. He continues to work with ESA, promoting space travel and inspiring future generations of scientists and engineers.
